Applying to Turing, step by step

Researched October 2026

Create an account at work.turing.com with your email and an English resume, apply to a specific role, finish its proctored tests and interviews (some roles use an AI interview), wait 48 hours to 6 weeks for a decision, then onboard (terms, two-step sign-in, ID, tax form, payment details, Scope of Work) and get paid monthly for the hours you log.

Who can join

  • A desktop or laptop with a working physical camera and microphone, Chrome 74+, Edge 79+ or the latest Firefox, and at least 4 Mbps. Assessments are not designed for phones, and most need screen sharing, camera and microphone access.
  • An up-to-date resume in English, which Turing reads to pre-fill your profile.
  • A valid, unexpired, physical government photo ID: a passport or driver's license (Nigerian users may also use a physical NIN card). Digital IDs, voter or tax cards (such as PAN) and green cards are not accepted, and the name on the ID must match the bank account you will be paid to.
  • Time that overlaps US Pacific hours for many roles: on 10 October 2026, 152 of the 262 roles on Turing's job board asked for some overlap with PST working hours, often 4 hours a day.
  • Whatever the specific role demands. For example, Medical Experts (Medical Doctor USA) requires being based in the US, fully licensed and practicing medicine in the US, with at least 1 year of post-residency experience, for at least 20 hours a week over 12 weeks.
  • Google Authenticator on your phone once you are selected: two-step verification on your Turing work email is mandatory and Google Authenticator is the only approved option.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Create your account at work.turing.com

Go to work.turing.com/jobs, enter your personal email and open the verification link Turing sends. An email you have used before cannot open a new account: sign in or use Forgot password instead.

  2. 2

Upload your resume and submit your profile

Upload an updated resume in English (Turing pre-fills your profile from it), then add your basic information, education, skills, languages and work history, and submit the profile. You can then apply to roles.

  3. 3

    Apply to a specific role

On the Jobs page, filter by skill or category, open a role, read its requirements and click Apply Now, then complete a short form (under 2 minutes) and submit. The role then shows under Submitted Applications on work.turing.com/dashboard/applications. Applications cannot be withdrawn once submitted.

  4. 4

    Finish the role's tests promptly

Some roles send you to proctored tests as you submit, and others add tests later as 'Pending steps' on your applications page; an application is not reviewed until every required test is done. Use a desktop, share your entire screen (not a window or tab), keep camera and microphone on, and do not use incognito mode or a VPN. A paused test can be resumed from your applications page.

  5. 5

Do the interviews if you are shortlisted

Turing says an interview is typically required for all roles. Shortlisted applicants are contacted by email or WhatsApp to schedule it, and offers are made only after the interviews and any required checks.

  6. 6

Track your status and keep applying

On work.turing.com/dashboard/applications a role moves through Pending Review, In Review, Shortlisted and Selected for Job, or to Archived if you were not picked. Reviews take 48 hours to 6 weeks; no word after 6 weeks typically means you were not selected, and no individual feedback is given.

  7. 7

    Onboard when you are selected

An email explains your onboarding, on Turing's own platform or on Deel. On Turing's platform, in the Workspace: sign the Terms of Service, set up two-step sign-in, verify a passport or driver's license, fill in a W-9 (US residents) or W-8BEN, add your payment details and sign the Scope of Work. Finish everything before your start date.

  8. 8

    Get your project accounts

Turing's onboarding team creates your system access and sends it to your personal email within 24 hours before your start date. All onboarding emails come from no-reply@turing.com, so check your spam and Updates folders if nothing arrives.

  9. 9

Log your hours and get paid monthly

Payments follow the hours you submit for each pay period: regular hours are paid on the 5th calendar day of each month, and processing can take 2 to 3 more days. Keep your payment method set up correctly to avoid delays.

Role-specific Turing vetting (proctored tests, AI interview, human interviews)

Turing sets its vetting per project and client rather than one test for everyone. It describes three stages: screening and matching on your profile (skills, domain, credentials, availability), automated testing (coding challenges in 18-plus languages, RLHF and SFT-style task evaluations, and an adaptive AI interviewer), and expert human review with deep-dive interviews for complex or high-stakes roles.

Format

Configured per role, and each job post lists its own evaluation. Posts read on 10 October 2026 include a roughly 25-minute AI interview followed by a resume review, a take-home assessment due within 24 or 48 hours after a short interest form, a timed analytical challenge followed by writing and language tests, and two technical interview rounds of about 75 minutes for coding roles.

How to prepare

  • Read the Evaluation Process and Offer Details on the role's own page before applying, so you know the tests, deadline, weekly hours and US Pacific overlap it expects.
  • Set up before you start: a desktop with Chrome, Edge or the latest Firefox, all extensions, VPN and incognito off, a physical camera and microphone, the laptop plugged in, and at least 4 Mbps.
  • Share your entire screen and keep camera and microphone running: pausing them more than 4 times disqualifies you from that test for 90 days.
  • Finish every required test as soon as it appears: Turing does not review an application with a test still pending, and timers keep running if your connection drops.
  • For expert roles, lead with your real credentials: posts set hard requirements such as a US medical license or 3+ years in consulting.

Why people get rejected

  • Pausing screen sharing, camera or microphone more than 4 times, or using a virtual camera such as an iPhone or OBS feed, which invalidates the attempt.
  • Leaving a required test unfinished, so the application is never reviewed.
  • Missing a role's hard requirement, such as being US-based and licensed for Medical Doctor USA.
  • ID verification that fails on a blurry, cropped, expired or digital document, or on a name that does not match your profile; after manual review a final rejection cannot be reversed.
  • Not a rejection: many applicants simply hear nothing, because Turing contacts only the people it moves forward.
How long it takes

Turing gives no fixed timeline. Reviews take 48 hours to 6 weeks from the time you finish every application step: about 1 to 2 weeks for entry roles, 2 to 3 weeks for mid-level and 3 to 4+ weeks for senior or specialized ones, and Pending Review usually clears in 7 to 10 business days. A week or more of silence after Shortlisted is normal; no word after 6 weeks typically means you were not selected.

When you get paid

Pay follows the hours you submit for each pay period. Turing pays regular hours on the 5th calendar day of each month, processing can take 2 to 3 more days, and any notice-period pay comes on the 10th. After you add payment details a 'Processing' check usually clears within 48 hours; do not edit your profile or tax details while it runs.

Tips to get accepted

  • Read each role's Offer Details before you apply. On 10 October 2026, 217 of the 262 roles on Turing's job board named no pay, and 152 asked for some overlap with US Pacific (PST) hours.
  • During a proctored test, share your entire screen and do not pause screen, camera or microphone more than 4 times: that auto-disqualifies you and you cannot retake the test for 90 days. Virtual cameras such as an iPhone or OBS feed invalidate the attempt.
  • Keep your profile name the same as your legal name on your ID and bank account. The profile only takes a first and last name, and a mismatch (a missing middle name, for example) can block payment setup until support resets your wallet.
  • Keep applying while you wait. Archived applications cannot be reopened, and after a formal rejection you must wait 3 months before reapplying to the same role.
  • Save your two-factor backup codes when you set up 2FA on work.turing.com. Turing cannot send codes by email; without the codes a reset needs a form with a photo of your ID, and a 2FA lockout can hold up a withdrawal.
  • For help, write to support@turing.com or use the live chat on work.turing.com (an AI agent, Alan, who can pass you to a person). Escalated cases usually get an answer within 48 business hours; open only one ticket per issue.

What isn't public

  • Turing publishes no rate card. On 10 October 2026, 217 of the 262 roles on its job board named no pay; those that did mostly ranged from $15 an hour to up to $150 an hour, or $30 to $400 per approved task.
  • Turing states its pay timing three ways: its Project Onboarding article says hours are paid on the 5th calendar day of each month, its Project Offboarding article says payments for completed work are released on the 5th business day of the month and can take 5 to 7 more business days, and its talent page promises 'bi-weekly payouts'. Which applies to which payment flow is not explained.
  • Turing lists no supported or excluded countries for contractors. Its talent page says its network spans 140+ countries, while some roles are open only to people based in the US or Canada.
  • Turing does not publish pass rates, test scores or how its AI interviewer grades answers, and gives no individual feedback.
  • Whether you are onboarded and paid through Turing's own platform, through Deel or through a partner is set per project, and Turing does not say how it decides.
  • Turing's talent page shows a 4.3 Trustpilot score, but its turing.com Trustpilot profile read 2.5 out of 5 from 202 reviews on 10 October 2026.
  • Job posts were read through Turing's public job API, which serves the same posts shown on work.turing.com; posts change daily, so the counts here are a snapshot of 10 October 2026.
  • We found no public report of a scam campaign impersonating Turing recruiters, and Turing publishes no scam warning of its own; its onboarding email comes from no-reply@turing.com and its support from support@turing.com.

Applying to Turing: questions

How long does Turing take to review an application?

Anywhere from 48 hours to 6 weeks after you finish every required step: about 1 to 2 weeks for entry roles, 2 to 3 for mid-level and 3 to 4+ for senior or specialized roles. If you hear nothing in 6 weeks, you were most likely not selected.

Will Turing tell me if I am rejected?

Not always. Because of the volume, Turing contacts only the people it moves forward, gives no individual feedback, and moves roles you were not picked for to Archived Applications. After a formal rejection you can reapply to the same role after 3 months, and you can apply to other roles at any time.

Can I retake a Turing assessment?

Only if a technical problem stopped you: then support can reset it (send the challenge name or ID). Otherwise you must wait a 90-day cool-off before trying the same assessment again.

What is the Turing Job Interest Form?

Many posts, such as AI Quality Analyst (English), start with it: shortlisted applicants get a Job Interest Form, then after a profile review an assessment that must be finished within 24 hours, and those who pass are contacted about pre-onboarding. That post offers 3-month contractor work of up to 40 hours a week with 4 hours of overlap with PST.

What does Turing's AI interview involve?

It depends on the role. For example, Business Consulting experts (up to $150/hr depending on internal evaluation and location, 40 hours over 4 weeks) lists an AI interview of about 25 minutes, then a resume and application review, then an offer.

What is the Turing business analyst assessment?

One business analyst post (Turkish language) lists about 80 to 90 minutes in total: an automated analytical challenge of about 30 minutes, then an English business writing test of about 30 minutes and a language proficiency test of about 20 minutes.

What does vetting look like for coding roles?

Coding posts often list interviews instead of a quiz. Senior Software Engineer (C#, LLM Evaluation and Repository Validation), for example, lists two rounds: a 60-minute technical interview and a 30-minute technical and cultural discussion.

How much does Turing pay?

Most posts do not say. Of the 262 roles on its job board on 10 October 2026, those that named a rate mostly ranged from $15 an hour (AI Quality Analyst language projects) to up to $150 an hour (business consulting, finance, legal and security experts), and some paid per approved task, from $30 to $400.

Does Turing pay through Deel?

It depends on your project. In the Turing flow you are paid straight to your bank account and find invoices and service agreements under Workspace on work.turing.com; in the Deel flow your contract, payslips and payments are in Deel. Some people are engaged through a Turing partner, which then provides the contract.

What ID does Turing accept?

A valid, unexpired, physical passport or driver's license (Nigerian users may also use a physical NIN card). Digital IDs, voter or tax cards and green cards are not accepted. After a second failed attempt your case goes to a manual review that usually takes 1 to 2 business days.

How long does it take to hear back from Turing?

Turing gives no fixed timeline. Reviews take 48 hours to 6 weeks from the time you finish every application step: about 1 to 2 weeks for entry roles, 2 to 3 weeks for mid-level and 3 to 4+ weeks for senior or specialized ones, and Pending Review usually clears in 7 to 10 business days. A week or more of silence after Shortlisted is normal; no word after 6 weeks typically means you were not selected.

Does Turing have an assessment?

Yes: Role-specific Turing vetting (proctored tests, AI interview, human interviews).

Can I apply to Turing from any country?

85.5% of its open roles are open to applicants in any country (25.3% on other platforms); 13.5% are limited to listed countries, most often India (named by 57.7%); 1.0% state no rule.
